Surroundings

High Norton is set above farmland, in a village with no hustle and bustle. It is a great place to relax, and if you do want to explore there are a number of things to see and do in the immediate area.

River Cruise, 90 minutes cruise on the Northern Wairoa River. Learn the some of the history of the sailing days, the kauri timber mill days and life on the river.
Wairere boulders, a great day trip from High Norton to see these unique fluted boulders flowing down the valley.

Hokianga Harbour, known also as Te Kohanga o Te Tai Tokerau (the nest of the northern tribes), it is the central point from which most Northland Maori trace their ancestry.
